Healthy on the Go: San Francisco- Dinner with Obama, kind of…

san francisco and the silicon valley

I dined at the same restaurant President Obama dined in while in San Francisco, Great Eastern; just not at the same time.  I enjoyed Peking Duck, BBQ spare ribs, egg rolls, roast pork, and white rice.  I also dined at R & G Lounge.  Both were highly rated in Yelp and the latter was Michelin rated.  Both websites are lacking, however.

Peking Duck at R & G Lounge. Best I’ve had!

Confused why spare ribs are showcased on a healthy blog?  It’s all about the 80/20 rule. 80% of the time I eat very healthy and do my workouts.  20% of the time I don’t.  That’s what I’ve found works best for me; I get to enjoy decadent foods occasionally, while still looking and feeling great!  If you’re math minded, that works out to 4 meals, or eating events, per week that I can indulge my palate.  I don’t always do all 4 meals, only if the occasion presents it self, meaning, the meal better be worth my splurge.  I consider being in San Francisco’s Chinatown worth the splurge.

Try the 80/20 rule and enjoy your life while being healthy.

Tomorrow I’ll tell you about the fried organic chicken I had at Food Network star, Tyler Florence’s Wayfare Tavern ;-)
