I was looking through my Live Better Journal book that I wrote several years ago, while researching for a corporate client. I came across this heart rate guide and modified it a little for you. It helps to know your heart rate while exercising so you know if you are working hard enough to maximize results. FYI- When you do the 5 Minutes to Fitness+ workout, you will get your heart rate up to a fat burning zone. Awesome!

I’ve spoken about this for years and it’s one of the concepts that makes me actually enjoy my workouts. The way we train ourselves to do anything is by getting leverage on our selves (when we feel like we must do something or we see great value in it), and we have a compelling outcome or vision, (I’ll look and feel great or I’ll be a good role model for my kids).
Many people think about paying bills, how they dislike their job, all the other things they should be doing or how much they hate exercising. Any idea why they come up with the conclusion that exercise stinks
So….write in and tell me what you think about most when you’re working out. Please be completely honest. For the first 5 people that write in, I’ll share your responses so you can mentor and inspire those of us that need it. So hurry and write in. Thanks!!

We all get a bit bored by the same ol routine now and then. It can even stop us from working out. Today, to get yourself pumped up again and back on track, set up a 5 minute circuit with your favorite activities, (couch-sitting doesn’t qualify
.
Try this routine:
- 1st 5 minutes- Start with with my 5 Minutes to Fitness workout to get warmed up
- 2nd 5 minutes- Do jumprope, kickboxing or dance, or alternate all 3 switching up every 30 or 60 seconds
- 3rd 5 minutes- Do an advanced set of my 5 Minutes to Fitness workout >
- 4th 5 minutes- Do a set of your favorite yoga moves, martial arts, sprints, leg or ab exercises
This 20 minute routine will give you a total body workout and cardio, incorporate the things you like, give you choices, break up the monotony and will motivate you to find new routines. Enjoy!
Let me know how you do.

When I designed the 5 Minutes to Fitness+ workout, I made sure I included the best training strategies, including intervals. Intervals benefit you because they:
- Get your heart rate up even when doing weight training, (this gets you a cardio workout without doing just cardio)
- Make you work harder for less time, making your workouts shorter
- Allow you to train your whole body in one workout helping you build more muscle and burn more fat
How do you do intervals? Just do your 5 Minutes to Fitness+ routine and this will guarantee your getting the most benefit from your workouts and complimenting any other exercise you do. FFR members, check out the advanced workouts here >

This is me with my coach, Alexander. He’s tough but fair
One of the best exercises to tone arms, chest and your core and increase your upper body strength is the push-up. Before you wince, here’s how to do it right, while keeping it simple.
Start: on your knees with 1 or 5 reps
Advance: once you can do 10 on your knees, try 5 regular style and work up to 10, 15 or 20 reps.
How often? Do push-ups 5 times per week as part of your Peter K workout
FFR members- follow this link to see a push-up and carbohydrate challenge you can take >
But don’t take it from me alone, FFR member, Dee, is living proof that you can start with 1 knee push-up and work up to 15 regular push-ups. That’s exactly what she did.

She also lost 15 llbs and competed in her 1st 5K with the Fit Friends’ Revolution! She joined the FFR and changed her life, and so can you. You’ll be hearing more about Dee and how she succeeded soon. Until then, 1 push-up……

Join the Fit Friends’ Revolution and get the perfect tush
>

I recently shot several 5 Minutes to Fitness+ TV segments with celebrity Yoga/Pilates instructor, Kristin McGee. We met several years ago and I’ve always admired her talent and down to earth attitude while training stars like Tina Fey and Bethany Frankel. I wanted to share a recent blog she did because women are always asking me how to work on their tush.
Kristin writes, “I’ve been blogging about how great yoga is for building a beautiful backside and I just have to add that Pilates is also an awesome way to get that sculpted ballerina butt. I think the two together are the best combination of them all. Here’s a Pilates routine I developed for Access Hollywood that will lift and tone your tush in just 3 moves.”
