San Francisco Edition- Fried chicken vs salmon. Which won?

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

salmon- san francisco

The salmon won, but only because you’re watching. I’m on a 3 week trip to launch the 5 Minutes to Fitness+ Club.  I landed in San Francisco last night as the Giants won. Around the block form the hotel is Tyler Florence’s, from the Food Network, Wayfare Tavern. The staff told me the organic fried chicken was the best around.  I swear I was going to choose it, then I thought of you.  I knew I would be checking in and telling you about my trip and I didn’t want to disappoint you.  One of the keys to health success is accountability, and you and I have it here. more »

How John lost 7lbs in 1 week, and will he sabotage himself?

Thursday, January 19th, 2012

Club member John reported in yesterday 7 lbs lighter than last week. I asked him what helped him most.  He said, “I realize much of it is water weight and that’s ok, I’m still happy.  What helped me most was making myself eat all day long, tracking my calories and sticking to my BMR.”  John does his 5 Minutes to Fitness routine at least 5 times a week as well. more »

Remember, don’t eat less than 1000 calories a day. more »

What are you having for lunch today? Why?

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

A powerful tool to help you maintain a healthy weight and be healthy in 2012, is to master eating for purpose.  Here is your challenge, should you accept it :-)

What will you choose to eat for lunch today and why?

  • Will you choose foods based on taste and a desire to feel better or be comforted?
  • Or will you choose foods that will give you energy to accomplish what you want most in 2012?

Answering the latter can make an incredible difference in your life.

Tell me what you choose for lunch. I’m curious :-)

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012

The biggest changes I’ve seen people make with their health over the past 22 years have been when they changed the food they eat. It makes the most impact on our weight as well as overall wellness. That’s why I designed custom menus to help you eat the best foods in the right amounts.

Virtually everyone makes a new year’s resolution to lose weight and be healthy, yet they have no idea how many calories they are eating, or should be eating. That doesn’t have to be you.  Here’s one of the best ways to achieve or maintain a healthy weight:

  • Figure out your BMR using my Tracker or an online tool- (how many calories you should be eating per day).
  • Track your calories using my Tracker or an online tool.
  • Plan your meals with the 5 Minutes to Fitness+ Menus, based on your BMR (daily calorie needs)

These menus are balanced with the healthiest foods, in the right portions. Members click on the links. Not a member? Join us here >

butternut squash dinner

I was at a friends house for dinner one night when I saw him preparing a dish out of the corner of my eye while I talked with other friends.  When it came to the table I loved the sweet, tender butternut squash he had simply prepared.  Here is my version. I’m happy to report I loved it just as much as his.  This is a simple recipe that produces a delicious, healthy, and visually satisfying dish packed with flavor and nutrition (beta carotene, antioxidants, anti-inflammatory). more »
