We gave the attendees of the wellness summit I spoke at a questionnaire. Every single person indicated they were stressed.
One thing I’ve noticed about being here, besides the oven temperatures, is that I am actually less stressed. Even though I want to get back to my family and have things to do, I feel a little more relaxed than I do at home. I’ve had long leisurely meals with my traveling partners and got a chance to know them a little better. I’ve spent time just sitting and doing nothing (once I got over the initial anxiety of doing nothing, I relaxed . I think it’s because I’m out of my usual routine and my thoughts are distracted from my daily grind. I can’t control my situation so I have tried to accept it and enjoy the quiet.
So, today, to feel less stressed, try to get away from your daily grind for a few minutes or a few hours. Take a walk, or drive somewhere different. Sit a little longer in solitude, or direct your mind away from your to do list. Call someone or spend time with a friend and enjoy the moment. Talk about things you usually don’t make the time to talk about. This distraction may be enough to lessen your stress by changing your routine. Your to do list will be waiting for you, take this time for yourself. You work hard and you’re a good person. Reward yourself with time and silence.
I will follow my own advice tomorrow, as I travel for 15 hours to get home. I’ll try to relax if you do See you back home.
