whey-protein-11352

2 young clients recenlty asked me about whey protein for building muscle and recovering from workouts faster .  If you do a google search for whey protein you get 1000′s of hits by whey product manufactures. The first question to ask is, “You’re eating breakfast, right?”  You know it’s one of the most important meals to get your metabolism going, giving you energy for your day, and essential after your morning workout to refuel your muscles so you get more tone.

I want to hear from you.  Leave a comment below telling us what you’re favorite breakfast is.  Not sure if it’s healthy?  Send us the ingredients and we’ll analyze it for you.  In fact, I’ll post the healthiest breakfast winner later this week.  Are you eating the healthiest breakfast possible?

Leave a comment by replying to this email or click here to tell us about your favorite breakfast, or with any questions you have about a healthy breakfast.

My favorite breakfast these days is 2 organic hard boiled eggs with a 1/2 cup of organic blueberries. This gives me the protein to build muscle and the energy I need to start my day along with protection against cancer, heart disease, diabetes, obesity and Alzheimer’s Disease.

The Perfect Pantry- Which foods you should always have, or else :-)

5 Minutes to Fitness+ Club coming soon

perfect pantry

You know when you sit on the couch, maybe a little bored, then find yourself in the pantry getting into all kinds of trouble?  Or when you really want to make a great meal but don’t feel like running to the market so you eat that frozen thing or some leftover you regret?

The solution is stocking the Perfect Pantry (includes refrigerated items as well). Here’s what we should have on hand.  BTW- Don’t buy the junk and don’t use the excuse that the kids love it :-) . If the junk is there, we will eat it, period. It has nothing to do with will power so set yourself up for success.

  • extra virgin cold pressed olive oil
  • organic berries (fresh or frozen)
  • wild canned salmon, or fresh
  • organic eggs (have hard boiled on hand)
  • broccoli, spinach, romaine lettuce, garlic, onions
  • sweet potatoes
  • Greek yogurt- plain
  • almonds, walnuts
  • brown rice (Trader Joes has pre-maid)
  • herbs and spices
  • kosher salt

Coming next Monday (nutrition blog day)

Breakfast- Turkey sausage, potatoes and veggies on the grill
