It’s 5:30 am and I’m writing to you from the Tampa airport, reflecting on my weekend in Florida.  We got 2 great videos shot on the beach and lagoon this weekend and then I indulged with some drinks, pizza & wings.

If you know me you know I love to wake up and have my pants fit, feeling energized and ready for a great day. I always say that’s the start of a good day. But what if you wake up bloated and sluggish, like I did this morning?

Well, you have 2 choices. 1. To continue a downward spiral, or 2. To take control of your thoughts.

Both options will drive your next behaviors.  My parents never taught me that I have control over the thoughts I allow myself to think and indulge in. Meaning, I can think about how lousy I feel, or I can think this is temporary and how choosing great food and exercising today will get me back on track.

I choose to look and feel great. I choose to eat a handful of nuts and berries for breakfast and exercise right here in the airport. And that’s exactly what I did. So what if the nice young girl I asked to take the picture above looked at me like I was deranged when I did my 5 Minutes to Fitness+ exercises in the airport. Living a fit lifestyle allows you certain liberties and successful people do things unsuccessful people aren’t willing to do :-) Be different and do something different today.

Hi from hot, sticky florida.  I shot 2 new segments for the 5 Minutes to Fitness+ Club coming this summer. One was on the beach, all about the best thing to drink in the heat. The answer, drum roll……….. WATER.  Stay away from the power drinks, flavored water, caffeinated concoctions and blue # 1. Water and and piece of fruit are  best for you to stay hydrated and keep your energy up.

The second segment was shot at a beautiful lagoon. (Picture above. BTW, that’s my producer Jem. No not in the orange shirt, the other guy holding the boom mic.  You know, the one who forced me to have a beer or 2 with him last night.) I will show you how to get a flat stomach and abs without doing crunches!

5 Minutes to Fitness+ Club coming soon

If you’ve been following me in Florida you know I had a great & healthy lunch (mussels) and then I had a functional veggie burger for dinner (energy food). So far so good, right.

Well, last night my producer Jem took his crew out for some drinks and I tagged along.  He bought me a beer and that led to another. At about 2 am I headed back to my room and was confronted by a bag of popcorn. But not just any popcorn. Someone got the bright idea to add sugar and cinammon and guess what, it tastes really good, especially at 2 am after a drink or 2. What do you think I did?

Like any successful, in control health expert I ate 3 small bags of the stuff before I knew what hit me.  Today I’m shooting 2 videos on the beach. Stay tuned to see how I recover from lasts nights detour and if I can resist Jem’s, let’s say, scottish influence- translation- happy hour!

I’m in Tampa/St Petersburg Florida to shoot 2 new videos for the 5 Minutes to Fitness+ Club (coming summer 2010) and I’m saving precious calories, like money in the bank.  Why?  Well, first, I’ll be shooting videos on the beach and don’t want to feel/look like a bloated manatee.

Saving calories for foods you really want to indulge in is a smart way to stay fit, in control and on track. Example- a client recently told me she won’t waste calories on a mediocre glass of wine. It’s got to be the good stuff.

So, I’ll be delaying gratification because I don’t know what great food and drinks await me and when I find what I want to splurge on, I won’t feel guilty.  The crazy thing is sometimes nothing seems worth the extra calories so I’m ahead of the game and feeling and looking great.  Most importantly, my pants will fit great in the morning and tomorrow will bring another day I start in control with the power to decide what I will indulge in. Now that’s living a fit lifestyle and enjoying it.
