Yesterday I was in that tall building above in one of my favorite cities, Chicago, but only for a few hours.

I showed a picture of Jane’s famous arms and got some people motivated to get tone.  In addition to hearing the #1 excuse for not being healthier, “I’m lazy”, I’m also hearing many pleas for a “kick in the *ss”, to help start the motivation process.  During the one on one sessions people continue to open up and ask. “Why can’t I get motivated to eat healthy and exercise? I’m guilty of this myself, “Not living in the moment.”  Why do we do it?  Why does it matter? There is a saying, “The reward lies in the journey”.  That means losing the weight or crossing the finish line is not what it’s only about. Maybe it’s more about the experience, the love, happiness and excitement you get, and share with those you love, by challenging yourself to be healthy or run marathons.

A delicious apple to try and make part of your healthy fall menu

A friend told me about Honeycrisp apples last year and I couldn’t believe the crunch and flavor. I recommend you try one this year. Apples are perfect as part of a breakfast as well as a snack and after school treat for the kids. These are so sweet you don’t need to dip them in honey.  Make one part of your menu today and start your fall off healthy.

  • Health benefits of apples = lower rate of cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.
  • Honeycrisps have about 80 calories which is less than a red delicious. Some honeycrips are huge so their calorie content will be higher.
  • They’re a good source of fiber; 3 grams per serving.

I jog once a week in addition to my 20 minute band workout, 5-6 times a week.  When jogging by the building above I always admire its attractive facade (left side of building).  What I never noticed was it’s foundation, which is plain & unattractive, but certainly strong (right side of building).   more »

When I was in college I received a failing grade on my first anatomy and physiology test.  My professor, Gerard Tortora, took me aside and said simply, “Peter why did you fail?  You’re smarter than this. Do better next time.”   That was all it took to get me on track to graduating with honors and going on to my masters degree.  I didn’t know it but professor Tortora wrote the A & P book most college students in this country learn from (see pic above).

Sometimes what we need most is someone to believe in us. To tell us, “hey, you can do this”.  Whether or not you and I’ve met yet, I know you have someone special inside you. I know you can master your health and look and feel the way you’ve dreamed of.  I hope as part of the Fit Friends’ Revolution you feel the support that Professor Tortora gave me many years ago and believe you can reach your health goals.  Today, take 5 minutes to think about what makes you great. If you can’t come up with anything then contact me and I’ll help you figure it out in 5 minutes :-)

I met Wynn three years ago and that’s when her vision began.  You know I always tell you the most successful people (including my clients) have a powerful, compelling reason of what they want.  Wynn had a vision that I would speak to the Atlanta Episcopal Church and yesterday it came true thanks to her perseverance, passion and vision.

Along with my vision of sharing great health secrets with 400+ wonderful people, many joined the Fit Friends’ Revolution to realize their own visions.  Donna (pictured above), along with many others are now part of the revolution and we welcome them and the positive energy they bring to the club.  We ended by playing a great song and thinking about what we wanted most and today we take one step toward making it happen along with you.  Let’s be great together and thank you for being here!
