PKF client, Alison, is on her way to her 3rd 1/2 marathon and she hit a “wall”. Read how she got around it……
Alison- This afternoon I was on my long run when something amazing happened. No, I didn’t figure out an algorithm to determine the winning lottery numbers (though I’m working on that ). I stopped. I don’t mean that I slowed down my pace. I came to a complete halt.
Let me give you some background. more »

Jane just finished her first half marathon. That’s 13.1 miles. When I met her 3 years ago she wasn’t sure she could run 3 miles. That’s the point. She didn’t know what she was capable of, and neither do we until we try.
6 months ago when I told Jane she was ready for a half marathon after finishing a 10k, she looked at me as though I escaped from an asylum. But with smart training, great food, a good plan and attitude, she did it, and….. had a great time, and….. is in the best shape of her life. Way to go Jane.
BTW- She only yelled at me a couple times, including a mini-tantrum during a 2 hour & 20 minute run. I get that alot when I push people but I don’t mind. It’s worth it to see people do what I know they can do, and what they never thought possible.
What’s possible for you? Hey, I’ll even let you yell at me if you want.
Jane’s quote, “You can honestly do whatever you set your mind to do. It’s all in your head!”
Be great!

PKF client Alison explores what we all fight with: that little voice in our head

Here’s a picture of Alison and Peter K from the recent Scotland Run 10k in NYC.
“Give it up, Fat Girl. You’ll never make it. Just go home.”
No, this isn’t a blog about my high school basketball tryouts. I heard this on my run yesterday morning. And no, there weren’t a bunch of bullies in front of me tormenting another kid. That conversation went on inside my own head. more »

Exercise, that is
I had a 90 minute run scheduled this morning that I could have easily cancelled. I went to bed with a cold and didn’t sleep at all. When 5 am rolled around I thought for a second, “MORE SLEEP”. Then I remembered my running partner. You see, I’m training a client for a 1/2 marathon in May and I couldn’t let her down. So yes, I did run and felt great afterwards as my legs burned, my heart pumped and the warm sun rose above. Get a partner and make sure its a great one.
Do you know why you do the things you do? You should because it’s a great way to stay focused and consistent. Read about Alison exploring ” why”. By the way, it’s one of the best reasons to do anything!
