One of the #1 causes of most pain is posture, or the way we stand and sit. I recently treated a 16 year old with physical therapy for her shoulder pain. Upon evaluation I noticed she was slouching, like most teens and adults, and stated her pain was worse sitting. What would you be thinking?
Yes, her slouching was causing her shoulders to hunch forward which was straining her rotator cuff (shoulder muscles). We worked on her posture, taught her some strengthening exercises, and within 2 days she reported a 90% improvement.
The lesson: Sit and stand tall, don’t slouch and you’ll prevent most spine and shoulder pain. BTW- When you do the core 5 Minutes to Fitness+ workout, you’ll be strengthening your shoulders as well.
