Want a healthier, tastier salad? Try making your own dressings. It’s not difficult. Here’s a dressing using garden herbs that you can use for salads, sandwiches and as a dip for bread.
What you’ll need
red wine vinegar, at least 12 ounces
fresh garden herbs on the stem- oregano, thyme, basil (add your favorites)
antique bottle with a cap (found a couple at an antique store)
Recipe
Place herbs, stem and all, in bottle. Pour in vinegar. Cap, let sit for 1 day and use. I place mine on my windowsill as grab as needed.
To make herb vinaigrette
Use a 3 to 1 ratio (ie- 3 tablespoons olive oil to 1 tablespoon vinegar)
What you’ll need
olive oil, extra virgin, 6 tablespoons
herb vinegar, 3 tablespoons
sea salt and pepper to taste
Recipe
Pour the vinegar in bowl. Slowly drizzle the olive in while whisking quickly. Grind salt and pepper to taste. Drizzle over your favorite salad. Store leftovers in fridge for 1 week.
